Performing and Audio Visual Rights Society of Kenya (PAVRISK) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee incorporated under the Companies Act 2015, Laws of Kenya. It is registered and licensed by the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) as the single ‘’one-stop’’ multi-rights organization in line with Section 46 of the Copyright Act no. 12 of 2001, to carry out the functions of a Collective Management Organization (CMO) in the Republic of Kenya. PAVRISK is registered and licensed as a CMO representative of all Music rights that include Authors, Composers/arrangers, Publishers, Performers and Producers of Sound recordings on one part, and the Audio-visual works creators that include Producers, Script writers and Actors of dramatic works, on the other. Additionally, PAVRISK has also been allowed to administer on appointment basis, all the economic rights in relation to the works of reprography in Kenya (Book publishers) and the rights administration in the visual arts category.

In accordance with the law, PAVRISK as a private entity is appointed by the rights owners (its members) to manage the rights in copyright works and protected performances (or content). This includes granting permission to use the content, collecting royalties, and enforcing rights on behalf of its members. In this way, PAVRISK performs a vital role in the copyright ecosystem by connecting rights owners with users; bringing about efficient transactions by reducing transaction costs and providing simple, cost-effective access to content. Though the CMO handles voluminous transactions involving a multitude of members and users, PAVRISK operates with high standards of transparency, accountability, efficiency, and good governance.

In its Licensing operations, PAVRISK uses the negotiated and duly gazetted consolidated tariff scheme to charge for the different types of content usages within the diverse spread of businesses and entities that consume the protected content across the country. Such entities targeted for authorization include but not limited to, the following;

  • Broadcasting Stations,

  • General Businesses like shops, Hairdressers, etc
  • Supermarkets, Road shows, Concerts,
